Portland International Jetport is the smoothest fly-in option. Once you have a car, the drive south is straightforward, and you can still stop in Portland on the way if you want one city night before the beach-town part of the trip.
From Boston, Ogunquit is a classic Friday or Saturday drive. Summer weekends can back up around the turnpike and Route 1 corridors, so arriving before late afternoon is noticeably better than battling the check-in surge.
If you would rather avoid the whole I-95 grind, the Amtrak Downeaster to Wells is a smart compromise. From there it is a short car service or rideshare into Ogunquit, and once you are in town you can walk more than many first-timers expect.
Summer parking fills fast
Ogunquit is easiest when you park once and stay flexible. Beach and Perkins Cove parking both tighten up quickly on warm weekends, especially by late morning.
Walk more than you think
If you stay near Marginal Way, Shore Road, or the beach, a lot of the trip becomes a walking town experience instead of a short-hop parking headache.
