Where To Stay

Choose lodging near the beach, Shore Road, or the part of Route 1 you plan to use.

Location determines how often you need the car. Compare hotels near Shore Road and Marginal Way with beach properties and Route 1 hotels before comparing room amenities.

Choose an Ogunquit lodging area

Village and Shore Road

Best for walking to restaurants, shops, the Shore Road entrance to Marginal Way, and the Main Beach footbridge. Expect the liveliest streets and the least need to move the car.

Beach and river side

Norseman Resort and the Dunes provide direct or nearby access to the beach or tidal river. Village dinners may require a longer walk or a seasonal trolley ride.

Route 1 and Cape Neddick

Route 1 properties often have easier parking, pools, and larger rooms, but they are farther from the beach and Shore Road. Cliff House Maine is in Cape Neddick, a drive from Ogunquit’s center.

For Marginal Way and evening walks

Properties around Shore Road and the village put restaurants, galleries, and the northern entrance to Marginal Way closest. Anchorage by the Sea and Terrace by the Sea suit travelers who value water views or central walking. The tradeoff is more foot traffic, restaurant activity, and summer street noise.

For direct or nearby beach access

Norseman Resort places the beach at the center of the stay near the river mouth. The Dunes offers cottage-style grounds along the tidal river farther north. These locations favor early beach access over village dining. Check the walking route to Shore Road and whether parking is included.

For pools, parking, and larger rooms

Meadowmere, Gorges Grant, Juniper Hill, and Admiral’s Inn offer combinations of pools, larger grounds, suites, and on-site parking. Check the actual walking route before assuming a Route 1 property is convenient to the beach or Perkins Cove.

For a separate resort stay

Cliff House Maine sits on a rocky headland in Cape Neddick. Choose it for the resort, spa, pools, and coast view, not as a walkable Ogunquit base. Marginal Way, Main Beach, and village dining require a drive and another parking search.

Walkable central stays

Best for first-timers who want easy access to Marginal Way, Shore Road, and dinner without using the car all day.
