Things To Do

Walk the coast, use the harbor, then leave room for one arts or beach move.

Perkins Cove harbor in Ogunquit

Perkins Cove is the anchor

Ogunquit is easier once you stop treating it like a big spread-out beach resort. Perkins Cove is the compact anchor, with the drawbridge, harbor views, small shops, boat access, and an easy handoff to Marginal Way.

  • Start here for photos, coffee, or an early lunch.
  • Use it as the turnaround point for the Marginal Way walk.
  • It is the easiest place to pivot from walking to cruising, shopping, or dinner.

Do Marginal Way and the beach as one day

The classic Ogunquit move is a morning or late-day Marginal Way walk, followed by beach time or a boardwalk loop. That pairing gives you both the rocky Maine coast feel and the wide-sand payoff without overcomplicating the schedule.

Ogunquit Playhouse

When you want something beyond sun and walking, the Ogunquit Playhouse is the highest-upside add. It is one of the town's best-known cultural anchors and gives the trip a distinctly Ogunquit feel.

Kayak or cruise

If the water looks good, add a harbor or coastal outing. A short cruise or easy paddle is often a better use of time than trying to drive around the entire shoreline looking for another photo stop.

Shore Road galleries

Ogunquit has enough art and small-shop texture to fill a slow hour between the beach and dinner, especially if the weather turns or you simply need a lower-key stretch.

A simple first-timer formula

Morning

Walk part or all of Marginal Way before the town feels full.

Midday

Pick Perkins Cove or the beach, not both at maximum intensity.

Evening

Lock one dinner reservation, then let the rest of the night stay easy.
